At Steelbox, we believe quality starts with the right material and ends with skilled hands. Every gate, staircase, railing, or grill we fabricate is crafted with precision, care, and the best steel for the job. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know about the materials we use, how we work, and why it matters.
Our Core Materials
Mild Steel
Reliable, versatile, and ideal for most custom steelwork, mild steel is our most commonly used material—especially for interior projects or areas not directly exposed to the elements. It offers excellent strength and is easy to customise.
Best For:
Indoor structures
Covered gates or railings
General fabrication
Zinc-Ready Steel (Electroplated or Hot-Dip Galvanised)
Malta’s coastal humidity makes corrosion resistance a top priority. For most external structures, we use pre-galvanised (electro-zinc coated) steel as a base. In harsher environments or by client request, we use hot-dip galvanised steel for superior rust protection.
Best For:
Exterior railings, gates, and balconies
Exposed structures near the sea
Projects that need long-lasting outdoor durability
Powder-Coated Steel
Our most popular finishing method, powder coating adds weather resistance, durability, and a clean look to any steel surface. Available in a wide range of colours and textures, it’s used on everything from gates to stair railings.
